Types of Driving Licences
- Learner's Licence (LL): For learning to drive (valid 6 months)
- Permanent Driving Licence (DL): After passing driving test
- Commercial Driving Licence: For auto, taxi, truck, bus
- International Driving Permit: For driving abroad
Documents Required
- Age Proof: Aadhaar card, birth certificate, passport
- Address Proof: Aadhaar card, utility bill, passport
- Passport size photographs (6)
- Medical fitness certificate (Form 1-A) - for commercial vehicles
Step 1: Apply for Learner's Licence
- Visit sarathi.parivahan.gov.in
- Select Maharashtra as your state
- Click "Apply for Learner Licence"
- Fill application form with personal details
- Upload documents and photograph
- Book slot for LL test at RTO
- Pay fees (Rs. 200 approx.)
- Appear for computerized LL test at RTO
- Download LL on same day if passed
Step 2: Apply for Permanent Driving Licence
- After 30 days of Learner's Licence, apply for DL test
- Visit Sarathi portal, login and apply for DL
- Book driving test slot at RTO
- Appear with your vehicle for practical test
- If passed, DL sent to your address via post (Smart Card DL)
Driving Licence Fees in Maharashtra
- Learner's Licence: Rs. 200 per vehicle class
- Permanent DL: Rs. 400 per vehicle class
- DL Renewal: Rs. 200
- Duplicate DL: Rs. 400
